Skin Cancer and Medical Marijuana

One of the most prevalent forms of cancer is Skin Cancer, with a diagnosis exceeding 3.5 million people each year. With this extent of prevalence, even modern medical services are seeking any other possible treatment for the disease, whose research has now indicated the effectiveness of marijuana as a curative drug. The journal of Clinical investigation published a study that had been carried out in 2003, indicating that medical marijuana has cannabinoids which inhibit growth of cancer cells.

The research explained that all tumor cases that were treated with cannabinoids showed an increase in the population of aptotic cells. This resulted in tumor vascularization, which was evidenced by an altered morphology of the blood vessels. Factors resulting to placental growth also decreased greatly, which all support the evidence that the cannabinoids can provide an effective therapeutic technique to the treatment of cancer.

Cannabinoids exist in three categories, which are phytocannabinoids, classical cannabinoids and herbal cannabinoids. Research studies suggest that endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids can be used to prevent and even treat colorectal cancer. A similar study conducted by Harvard suggested that THC reduces by half, the growth of tumors in most lung cancer cases because it affects particular receptor sites which normally stimulate the growth of cancer cells.

Cannabinoids induce anti tumor properties in a number of ways. For instance, they will do so by inducing the death of cells, inhibiting cancer cell growths and inhibition of the angiogenesis of tumors. The CBD cannabinoids have also been shown to have anti-cancer properties. These work by inhibiting a certain gene which causes metastases. This is the substance which facilitates relocation of cancer cells from the tumor site to cause spread.

Cannabis oil, also called hash oil is extracted from the cannabis or hemp and it is the widely known form by which the treatment is administered. It has the highest content of THC, besides an abundance of gamma lineloic acid. The higher concentration of the acid is used to cure various disorders inclusive of Skin Cancer. It promotes the growth of healthy cells which results in neutralization of major cancer cells.

The beneficial acids and nutrients present in hemp oil are effective in treating skin cancer lesions at its early stage. The oil is normally applied generously to the lesions to cover them fully for 72 hours. It is then cleaned using isopropyl alcohol. After repeating the process three times, it will completely neutralize the cancer cells within a period of three weeks.

Cannabis science conducted a study with three cancer patients who were treated to the medical marijuana. Two of the patients’ photos indicated how the tumor cells were extruded to the surface and were killed slowly as the healing process proceeded. The third patient showed a shrinking of the tumors which gradually reduced the pain and after some time it was reported that 75%of the tumors had disappeared.

In conclusion, the use of medical marijuana has been considered illegal for a long time but this evidence gives a reason to fight for legalization of the drug.
